Impact of CAV Parameters and Intersection Complexity on Stop-Controlled Intersection Efficiency

This course project developed a MATLAB simulation model to evaluate how connected and automated vehicle parameters may improve efficiency at stop-controlled intersections. The study compared human-driven vehicle and CAV scenarios using different speed, headway, and scheduling assumptions. A block-priority scheduling logic grouped vehicles arriving closely from the same approach and enforced switching headways between conflicting approaches, while re-validating car-following headways within lanes. The report analyzed throughput efficiency, vehicle delay, conflict-point complexity, and the relationship between intersection geometry and CAV efficiency gains.
